Neuromodulation/Botox

Recent medical breakthroughs have proven Botox injections as an effective way of treating chronic migraines. At the Headache Response Center, our surgeon has a background in plastic surgery and deep experience administering Botox. In fact, our lead surgeon’s interest in the treatment of headaches started when he noticed that his cosmetic patients who had Botox administered for cosmetic reasons were reporting therapeutic results related to their migraines. If you experience migraines during two or more weeks out of the month, Botox injections may be an appropriate treatment for you. Unlike the cosmetic use of Botox, Botox therapeutic is administered to treat a chronic medical condition and as such is covered by most insurance with prior approval.

During the procedure, a qualified specialist administers about 30 injections to 7 specific sites that are known to contribute to migraines. The procedure is minimally invasive, and takes only about 5 to 10 minutes. The relief that a patient experiences after a single Botox injection can last up to 3 months. Depending on the individual patient, Botox injections have been known to provide immediate relief that lasts for up to three months.
